Let me begin my start-of-the-school-year message through a parable of Jesus, titled, The Parable of the Sower. The parable can be found in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Our Lord loved to speak in parables. It was His way of delivering God’s message in a way that was understandable to His listeners since he talked about their everyday experiences.
The Parable of the Sower
“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As the farmer was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
If you were the farmer, where would you sow your seeds?
If you were the seeds, where would you like to grow? along the path? on rocky places? among thorns? or on good soil?
Of course you would like to grow on good soil. On good soil, you will be more productive and be able to bear more fruit.
How do we apply the Parable of the Sower to our daily lives here at Laguna BelAir Science School?
Your parents are the farmers. You are the seed. And LBASS is the good soil.
For the past twenty years, parents have entrusted their children to LBASS because they believe that at LBASS, their children will grow into fine young men and women who will live their lives fully and responsibly and are prepared for higher learning. And LBASS has made that possible, as proven by the recent achievements of its alumni.
On its twenty-first year, SY 2017 – 2018, LBASS will continue to be the good soil, where you, the seeds, have been planted in order to grow and develop into socially responsible leaders and professionals who excel in the fields of science, technology, and other disciplines.
Through its DNA twin strands of Science Education and Stewardship, LBASS commits itself to pursuing quality and relevant Science education that is fun and engaging, and pursuing its stewardship role of contributing to meaningful changes in society.
Welcome to SY 2017 – 2018. Welcome to my school. Welcome to your school. Welcome to LBASS – our school!
Thank you and good day!
